For this issue only, I am taking space on the front page because it is important to make clear that this is the last issue of the OSG Newsletter that will be circulated to all members of General Synod during this quinquennium. From now on the Newsletter will be mailed only to paid-up members of the Group. Opportunities for joining will be available at all of our events detailed in the enclosed flyers or you can contact our Membership Secretary (see back page).
The present issue starts with items that highlight good things about being a member of the group and, in addition to these, there is the benefit of social events organised by the OSG at each group of sessions. At York it is our tradition to organise a fun quiz evening at the end of business on Saturday, with proceeds being donated to a different charity each year. The quiz provides a wonderful opportunity to relax with friends after the rigours of a day in the debating chamber. As a new venture for OSG we are pleased to take the opportunity offered by WATCH GS+ to host an open meeting with Bishop Victoria Matthews as the speaker.
Having started with OSG matters, the newsletter turns progressively more outward looking as items move from General Synod, Ecumenical and national concerns to Europe and beyond.
