What is happening to the Anglican Communion? What is happening to the Church of God worldwide? When we hear of the suffering of Christians in other parts of the world and even how marginalisation is creeping in here, not only for Christians but for those of other faiths, we might be tempted to wonder what type of 'regulation' will assert itself in the years to come. We see power corrupting people across the world and this country is not immune from that. Can we in OSG hold to the 'hard centre'? For if the centre is not firm then what is around it will collapse. Tim Hind in his article gives illustrations. Christ said 'I come to bring good news to the poor' and therefore we must be prepared to become poor in order to be able to hear and act on that good news. We have always stressed that we hold to the Five Strands/Marks of mission. If we can, then we will move forward together and bring our internal differences as an offering which each of us will honour: then diversity in all things will become part of our richness in poverty. We are told to love our neighbour as ourself but there are times when we do not love ourselves and those are times when we need to question why and do something about it. We should be addressing these questions rather than pecking away at internal differences.
